Below was the itinerary for the weekend.
FridayRegistrationBooked in with the Canberra Club committee at the Carotel Motel Park, on the Northern side of Canberra. Damien was there to collect the registrations. Some of the P76 owners attending the gathering. Pm TourA canberra club member took visitors on a guided tour and familisation of the Canberra city and Government areas. We finished on dusk an make arrangements for our own tea. SaturdayConcourseJohn from Victoria Anton and Andrew from South Australia. Joe from the Classic club in Sydney. Envey Green Targa and Bold As Brass cars from Gwen and Michael Dixie and Suzan from Bli Bli. 28 cars parked on the grass outside the high court building near the rose garden of the Old Parliament house. The Classic club, Mr and Mrs Green and Troy turned up with his orange 'Home on the range' Force 7 and low mileage White executive and 'Am I Blue' super and Brian's Blue Targa. From Queensland, Garth and Christine with their white twin turbo, Dave and Warren with their blue Targa's, Geoff and his race car, John and Dell in an Aspen green super, Dixie and Suzan in their White super & Adrian in his Nutmeg super. From NSW, Jason with his white super, Michael and Gwen with the Envey Green Targa and Bold as Brass super, Brian in his Aspen green super, Phil in his Envey Green Targa, Col and Sandra in the country cream super. Tasmania, Nick in his white super and Rod and family with his Blue Targa. South Australia, Anton and Jo Anne in the Dry red executive and Andrew in the Aspen green super. Victoria we had Mick Clark in his Aspen Green executive and another member in Blue super. 12pm Lunch of ham and salad , chicken and salad boxs or plain salad rolls with a bottle of water, chocolate and a piece of fruit. Picture to come After lunch free time so some went off and visited the War Memorial 7pm Formal dinner (Rydges Lakeside hotel, P76 official launch venue in 1973) On the 15th floor and had a beautiful smorgassboard tea before proceeding to the 1st floor for some videos of past events. Banner from earlier times. SundayObservation run. Many cars started but there were a few retirements around the course. Took in the V8 Super Car street race track, past the Prime Ministers residence then onto the fire damage areas. Out through Tuggerong and back past the airport to come back to the Carotel Motel for lunch. The trip took about two hours to complete. Congratulations to Garth and Christine with one wrong answer a good job well done. After lunch there was a delegates meeting setting out the next national meetings and get togethers for the coming years. Also discussed was the way information was to be passed about the clubs. Free time with members visiting Tourist activities, (War memorial or Parliament house or Telstra Tower or National Science or Technology centre etc.) MondayFarewell BreakfastBreakfast at Belconnon MacDonalds. The trophy for the longest distance travelled went to Dixie and Suzanne from Bli Bli on the Sunshine Coast.
