Sway Bar discussion for P76

May, 2008

Question

From James (WA)
I spoke to K-Mac Supsensions this week about sway bars for the P76.
Even though they don't list them in the on-line catalogue they do still have them available made to order.
Front sway bar 27mm - $195.00
Rear sway bar 22MM - $260.00
He also mentioned that they also make strut top camber kits to suit the P76 as well as springs. Apparently they had an employee back in the 80's who owned a P76, and K-Mac put a lot of time developing the right coil settings and camber etc.
Speaking to Tony De Luca yesterday and he mentioned that he felt the 27mm front bar is too extreme for road use.
I would be interested in hearing oppinions from anyone else who have fitted aftermarket swaybars etc and what their findings are.
I have ordered a front and rear bar from K-Mac ( delivery to Perth is 3 days from placing the order which is exceptional ) and will pass on my thoughts after fitting them.

I had some front and rear lowered k mac springs they were quite good, I had to cut two loops of the front strut bump stops.
Any idea on how much for the front strut top camber kit?
Im down to my last two decent strut tops.
Mick

If you need a sway bar get onto your local spring works and they can make them up as per sample in whatever diamete you like rfor a lot less than whiteline and pedders charge for them in actual fact these 2 buiseneses use local spring makers for most of there products swaybars spring coils etc as neither of them own a spring works and what you end up paying the extra for is either a white or red paint job

Hi Mick,
The strut top camber kit is $450 from K-Mac.
These do away with the old P76 style tops and use urathane outers with bearing inserts.

Hi James and others.
I have used whiteline 24mm front bars for about 15 yrs now and they certainly make a big improvement to a P76 handling traits.
I have used the Kmac rear springs which do well in stopping rear end sag and hopping sideways movement in mid corner bumps that plauge most P76's that i have driven with std springs and shocks.
I found the kmacs in std height hd rear form much better than a set of lovells that seemed too stiff when unloaded but excellent when towing.
Mick I havnt fitted the superlow kmacs front and rear that i bought off you but I reckon that the car should be vastly improved for body roll and fast handling for track work that I am planning.
my 2 cents worth
Nick
